What is the Stationery Bank?

The Stationery Bank is an initiative launched by the HIM Foundation to provide essential stationery supplies to underprivileged students in government primary schools. Its goal is to ensure no student's classwork or homework is left incomplete due to the lack of stationery.

Why was the Stationery Bank needed?
How does the Stationery Bank work?

Initially, the HIM Foundation distributed stationery directly to students. However, identifying individual needs was challenging. To overcome this, the Stationery Bank was established to work collaboratively with school teachers, ensuring proper allocation based on student requirements

Key Steps:

1. Collaboration with Teachers:

  • Teachers contact the HIM Foundation to set up a Stationery Bank in their schools.
  • Supplies are distributed by teachers, who assess and address the students’ needs.

2. Stationery Bank Setup:

  • Schools that apply are provided with a Stationery Bank, containing items such as pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, glue sticks, certificates, award medals, and whistles.

3. Classroom Discipline:

  • Whistles are provided to help teachers maintain discipline. For instance:
    1. First whistle: Students quiet down.
    2. Second whistle: Full silence, enabling effective communication.

4. Student Responsibility:

  • Students are taught to value and not misuse the supplies.
  • Capable students are encouraged to contribute stationery on their birthdays or during festivals.

Funding:

The initiative relies on mutual cooperation and fundraising, with support from collaborators and donors.

Objectives of the Stationery Bank

1. Ensure every student has access to essential stationery, preventing disruptions in their education.

2. Instill a sense of cooperation and generosity among students, encouraging them to help others.

3. Empower teachers to understand and address their students needs effectively.

How to Contribute to the Stationery Bank

  • For Teachers: Contact the HIM Foundation to establish a Stationery Bank in your school.
  • For Citizens: Donate stationery on special occasions like birthdays, festivals, or other significant events.
  • For Students: Encourage capable students to request their parents to contribute items to the bank.

Appeal to Corporates and the Government

We urge corporate organizations and the government to support this initiative, ensuring every underprivileged student has access to the necessary stationery. Together, we can prevent incomplete classwork or homework due to a lack of resources, enabling students to reach their full potential.

This effort will not only transform students’ lives but also foster a spirit of unity and cooperation in society.
